Team Techtile is made up of five engineering students taking Principles of Engineering at Olin College of Engineering in Fall 2018. As part of Principles of Engineering, we were given 8 weeks to create a product that contained complex mechanical, electrical, and software component. While considering our team skill sets and timelines we brainstormed ideas like a mechanical music box, pinball machine, mimicking puppet but settled on making a music braille printer.

Meet The TEAM!

Abby

Abby Fry is a Sophomore at Olin College of Engineering. She is majoring in Electrical and Computer Engineering. She worked on electrical prototyping, embedded software, and mechanical design. She also worked on process documentation and budget.

Hyegi

Hyegi Bang is a Sophomore at Olin College of Engineering majoring in Computing. She loves eggs, eggs and eggs. Throughout the project, she has worked on desktop programming, python to Arduino communication, and rasp-pi to Arduino communication. She is patiently awaiting the day where she can crack out of her egg and become the fully fledged duck she has always desired.

Mark

Mark Goldwater is a sophomore at Olin College of Engineering who is majoring in Electrical and Computer Engineering. He has had a lot of experience working on the software elements of many of his projects both at Olin and not such as computer-vision-assisted origami software. In this project he wanted to develop his skills in the realms of mechanical prototyping/fabrication and electrical prototyping.

Sherrie

Sherrie Shen is a Sophomore at Olin College of Engineering and is majoring in Engineering with a Computing concentration. She is very kind and good at programming. She worked with MIDI files and embedded firmware and helped with electrical integration. She has pink hair, plays competitive badminton, and helps keep track of Hyegi.

Tommy

Tommy Weir is a sophomore at Olin College of Engineering, who is majoring in Mechanical Engineering. In other projects at Olin, he has helped with fabrication, electrical prototyping, and team logistics. He helped team Techtile with a lot of mechanical design work and Computer Aided Design.
