Welcome to our blog!
Hello all!
We are team Platypi, a curious and passionate group of five engineers-in-training from Olin College of Engineering. We joined forces to work on a project for a course called Principles of Engineering (POE). On this blog, you can find updates about our iteration process and see the progress of our project over our four two-week sprints.
For our project we will be working to build a mechatronic marionette, which will ideally be a polished, interactive art piece. Our aim is to create a system of motors or servos that can be used in combination with an arduino to control a marionette-like puppet, all of which would be contained within a display case.
There are several different user interfaces that we find interesting. The simplest would be a panel of buttons that would make the marionette perform pre-programmed motions. Another option that we would like to explore is the possibility of commanding the marionette using voice-control.
We are all very excited about this project!
