Gears

We attached the gears using a nut and bolt system. This allowed us to have greater flexibility over the spacing of the gears, and a very strong connection so the gears stay in place.

Pulleys

The pulleys were attached using a similar nut and bolt system as the gears, but with extra reinforcement such as to make sure the pulleys did not wobble when turned. We also encased the bolts in copper pipe to add to the esthetics of our sculpture. 

Weights

The weights hang from the strings attached to our pulleys and gears. They were assembled using epoxy for strength, and combine both wood and metal.
